Welcome to Your Midlife Mom Toolkit. If you're exhausted, burned out, or feeling like you're failing at this whole midlife mom thing, you're in the right spot. I see you. I've been there too, approaching 40 with a baby and teenagers, in a body I didn't recognize, dealing with impossible stress. And then I lost my younger brother and it felt like the bottom just dropped out. Even as a life coach, I was flailing. That's when I realized I had zero capacity for anything new. I just needed help managing what was already on my plate. That's normal. That's okay.
Here's my promise: This toolkit won't ask you to change who you are or add more to your plate. We're going to get you steady again. I want you to find that footing underneath you. I promise these tools will help you just like they helped me. I'm so proud of you for being here. Let's get going.
Steady!
Okay, so here's what we're doing. We're getting you steady again. Not adding more to your plate, I promise. We're using the word STEADY as your toolkit: Soulful Snapshots to reconnect with your values, Talk It Up to learn celebration, Elevate with God (or your higher power), Anchor in Feelings so your body isn't this big confusing mess, Done in a Dash to get things done fast, Your Joy, Your Choice because you've forgotten about your joy (and we're fixing that), and Survival Mode for those really rough days, because sometimes surviving IS the win.
Now here's the thing. These aren't just tools to get through the day. They help you see your patterns, and those patterns are pure gold. They're what's going to help you feel like yourself again and actually thrive in this midlife phase we're all in. That's normal. That's okay. And we're going to walk through every single one together. I'll see you in the next one.

Soulful Snapshots
So Soulful Snapshots is all about teaching your brain to find evidence that you ARE living your values, because I promise you, you are. If I ask you, "what are your values?" and your brain goes blank, that's normal. Stay with it. Things like being a good mom, a hard worker, a good friend, those are going to show up. Then I want you to gently ask, "Where am I living this today?" Your brain's going to throw a tantrum and say you're not doing enough. That's okay. Stay with it. Because you got your kids to school, you helped with homework, you showed up. That ALL counts.
This literally takes 30 seconds. Grab a scrap of paper, write down where you lived that value today, and over time you'll train your brain to see the thousands of things you're already doing that you're not giving yourself credit for. That's the power of Soulful Snapshots.

Talk it Up!
Okay, so Talk It Up is learning the skill of celebration, because every time you tell yourself "it doesn't count" or "I should be doing more," it's like adding rocks to your backpack while climbing the mountain of life. There's no prize for carrying the most weight. So here's how we lighten that pack. Four steps that take 5 seconds: put your hand on your heart, take a deep breath, say something nice you did today, and watch your brain throw a tantrum. That's normal. Keep going back to talking nice to yourself.
As you practice, your body will soften and you'll feel this beautiful release, like your pack just got lighter. Bonus step: say it out loud, to yourself, to the sky, or to a safe person who won't judge you. Because you matter and the things you do deserve to be celebrated.

Elevate with God
Elevate with God is about remembering that prayer is a two-way conversation, and we forget that all the time, which is normal. Find a quiet spot, imagine a peaceful place, and let that peace grow in your body until it opens up this beautiful channel between you and God. Then start filling it with prayers, thoughts, burdens, even things you don't have words for. Let them float up and ask Him to just hold them for you.
Then stay there and ask, "What do you want me to know right now?" What comes back will be specific, sacred, and meant just for you. It'll ground you faster than anything because it reminds you of who you really are, and I promise, it's still in there.

Anchor in Feelings
Anchor in Feelings is about getting out of your head and into your body, because you cannot think your way out of a problem. Emotions come on like a wave, and at the peak your brain will tell you to resist, avoid, or react. That's normal. But what we want to learn is to allow it, and I promise, you won't get stuck. You're already stuck when you're doing the other three.
Here's what you do: take a deep breath, find the emotion in your body, and talk to it. Be nice to it. "I see you're here. What are you trying to tell me?" Then stop and listen. As you treat that emotion like you'd treat your child in a calm, loving moment, it will loosen its grip and you'll be able to breathe again.

Done in a Dash
Our next tool is Done in a Dash, and it's all about getting yourself in motion. When you look at your to-do list and your brain sees everything that needs to get done, it gets overwhelmed and shuts down. That's normal. So instead of tackling the big scary thing, find something you can do in 30 seconds or less.
The second you do it, ask yourself again, what's the next 30-second thing? Because once you're in motion, you stay in motion. That's the power of this one.

Your Joy, Your Choice…
Our next tool is Your Joy, Your Choice, and this one might be my favorite. Sometimes our spark goes out, and joy is the fuel that lights it back up. So throughout your day, whenever you come to any choice, ask yourself: which way feels more fun? How can I make this more joyful?
Maybe it's turning on music while folding laundry or taking the scenic route to soccer. Watch for that little flicker, that rev in your engine. Those tiny drips of joy start adding up, and you start feeling like yourself again.

Survival Mode…
Our last tool is Survival Mode, because some days the best you can do is just survive, and that's okay. But there are two rules: first, you're only allowed to talk nice to yourself. If you break that rule, you go in timeout. Second, you have to complain until it's ALL out, go round after round until you're grasping at straws complaining about ugly license plates. That's when you know the wave has passed.
